Airline threatens to hold unions accountable for passenger claims after ‘selective picketing”
AIR Peace has accused aviation unions of violating a Federal High Court judgment by disrupting operations, assaulting employees, and intimidating passengers during an industrial action on August 11, 2026.
The airline estimates losses over N2 billion, resulting in over 70 flight cancellations.
Chief Operating Officer Oluwatoyin Olajide stated that the unions responsible will face legal and financial consequences for passenger claims and asserted that the violence falls under force majeure, relieving Air Peace from compensation obligations.
She questioned why Air Peace was targeted amid industry-wide grievances and called for a government investigation to uphold aviation safety.
Olajide noted troubling instances of union members urging passengers to avoid Air Peace while favoring other indebted airlines.
