THE Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has raised safety concerns regarding an aircraft runway overrun incident involving Enugu Air.

The preliminary report, following the July 23, 2026 accident in Benin, emphasizes issues related to the runway-end environment, control tower visibility, and meteorological information.

Immediate safety recommendations (A-2026-039 to A-2026-042) were directed to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and other agencies.

The Embraer ERJ 170-100LR, operating flight ENU4264, overran Runway 05 and struck installations, but all 68 occupants were evacuated without injury.

Additional investigations are ongoing, and the NSIB has released a flight path recreation video to enhance transparency. The investigation aims to prevent future incidents, not to assign blame.

A final report will include further safety recommendations upon conclusion of the inquiry.
