THE Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, in collaboration with the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has extinguished a fire at a storage tank at the Bono Energy Terminal in the Ibru Jetty Complex, Apapa, Lagos.
The July 3 early morning blaze prompted a rapid response from emergency teams, including NPA, NIMASA, and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, successfully preventing its spread to nearby tank farms and critical facilities.
The emergency occurred at 12:04 p.m. on July 3, 2026, when firefighters from Ajegunle, Sari Iganmu, and Isolo Fire Stations responded to a blaze involving a 5-million-litre Automotive Gas Oil storage tank. They arrived at the scene by 12:16 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Through the collaborative efforts of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, NPA, NIMASA, and nearby emergency response teams, the fire was controlled and extinguished, with no casualties reported.
Margaret Adeseye, the director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed that there were no recorded casualties from the incident at the time of the report.
