LEKKI Deep Sea Port achieved a significant milestone by welcoming the inaugural vessel of a new joint container service from Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Ocean Network Express (ONE) in July. This event enhances direct connectivity between Nigeria and key hubs in Europe and West Africa through the Mediterranean West Africa Service (MA2).

The port management anticipates increased direct vessel calls and improved cargo evacuation, strengthening Nigeria’s competitiveness in trade.

Lekki Port’s Managing Director, Wang Qiang, views this maiden call as a testament to the facility’s efficient infrastructure.

This new service is expected to offer Nigerian importers and exporters better scheduling and more reliable transit times, benefiting manufacturers and agricultural exporters with improved access to international markets.

The port’s modern equipment and deep draught continue to attract global shipping lines, distinguishing it from older, congested terminals in Nigeria.
