THE Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has launched a multi-agency task force in response to traffic congestion at the Lagos port, aimed at ensuring efficient cargo movement.
This initiative follows a stakeholders’ meeting in June, where issues like illegal extortion and overlapping security roles causing gridlock were discussed.
The task force includes various stakeholders, responsible for monitoring truck movement and addressing disruptions without setting up checkpoints.
A WhatsApp platform has been created for rapid reporting of violations.
The NPA is also reviewing the Electronic Truck Call-Up system contract to enhance logistics efficiency and maintain competitive port operations.
