LEKKI Port has started a new weekly feeder service with the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), one of the world’s largest container shipping lines, aiming to establish itself as West Africa’s premier maritime gateway.
The maiden voyage at Lekki Deep Seaport on August 3 is set to enhance Nigeria’s connectivity to international trade routes, offering importers and exporters better access to MSC’s global shipping network.
The new service creates a shipping link between Lekki Port and the Port of Lomé in Togo, facilitating cargo transshipment to and from MSC’s global services.
Import cargo will route through Lomé to Nigerian ports like Lekki, Apapa, and Tin Can Island. Export cargo from Lekki will be consolidated at Lomé for shipment to Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
This initiative aims to enhance cargo connectivity, reduce transit delays, and offer Nigerian shippers increased shipping reliability for international exports.
