THE Federal Government has initiated a technology-driven Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS) to regulate airport car hire operations and enhance passenger safety across Nigeria’s airports.

Implemented by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), this system aims to address operational challenges like lack of coordination and security concerns, particularly due to unauthorized taxi operators or “touts.”

FAAN’s Director of Commercial and Business Development, Ms. Adebola Agunbiade, emphasized that ACHRAMS is designed to create a standardized platform for reliable car hire services, with FAAN retaining regulatory oversight.

Existing ride-hailing companies will participate under FAAN’s guidelines without managing the scheme.

The initiative will establish designated pick-up points and centralize parking bays at terminals, ensuring orderly operations.

According to Agunbiade, FAAN is committed to an inclusive approach for both commercial and informal taxi operators, offering transition programmes to integrate them into the new system and ultimately improve passenger experience and accountability in airport ground transportation.
