Nigerian international and Stoke City FC of England’s striker Peter Osaze Odemwingie has been ruled out of actions for at least two weeks following a hamstring injury he picked up in training this week.

The former Lille OSC FC of France and West Brom of England star striker’s latest injury set-back was confirmed by Stoke City manager Mark Hughes. “Unfortunately Peter has got a hamstring strain and is likely to miss the next couple of weeks,” Hughes said at the pre-match press conference.

“It’s disappointing for him because he has worked tremendously hard throughout pre-season,” he said.

Odemwingie came back to first team duties after a frustrating 2014/15 campaign where he tore his cruciate ligament against Manchester City in August 2014. He did, however, make a full recovery back from the injury to feature in the latter stages of last season, and built upon that during the Potters’ hectic pre-season schedule.

Odemwingie’s last action for the club was as a substitute in the last Sunday’s 0-1 home loss to Liverpool in the opening game of the season.
