It is the latest Nigerian state to announce own airline

KANO State has announced plans to establish a state-owned airline, named Kano Airline, expected to begin operations within the next year.

Governor Abba Yusuf unveiled the initiative during a council meeting, emphasizing its role in creating jobs for locally trained pilots, including those from a previous state-sponsored programme in Jordan.

This move adds to the trend of Nigerian states launching their own airlines, with Kano joining five others currently operational or in development: Ibom Air, Cally Air, Enugu Air, Air Bayelsa, and Ebonyi Air.

Additionally, several other states have expressed interest in developing their own airlines or partnering with existing ones.
