NIGERIA Customs Service (NCS) has set an ambitious revenue target of N11.07 trillion for 2026, despite concerns that reduced import tariffs on vehicles could impact earnings.
Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi presented this projection during a budget defence at the National Assembly, detailing that it includes N5.542 trillion for the Federation Account and other contributions.
He acknowledged that recent fiscal changes might hinder revenue collection, particularly due to lower duties on vehicles implemented from May 1, 2026. However, he remains optimistic about meeting targets via improved technology and compliance measures.
The Senate supports this ambitious target, deeming it achievable amid ongoing reforms in the NCS. Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs and Excise Senator Isah Jibrin encouraged the NCS to continue its aggressive revenue strategies, building on past successes.
