PANIC ensued on Thursday when an Enugu Air aircraft with 63 passengers and five crew members veered off the runway after landing at Benin Airport, prompting a safety investigation.

The Embraer E170, operating Flight 4264 from Lagos, overran Runway 05. Fortunately, all aboard were safely evacuated unharmed.

Enugu Air confirmed the incident and announced potential flight schedule adjustments for affected passengers.

One passenger noted the aircraft landed unusually late, leading to a tense experience.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) dispatched a team to investigate the occurrence, collecting evidence, interviewing personnel, and examining runway conditions.

NSIB Director-General Capt. Alex Badeh Jr. emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation.

Meanwhile, Air Peace suspended all flights to and from Benin due to the runway closure, citing circumstances beyond its control and expressing regret for the inconvenience.
