Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), Dasuki Arabi, says digital public infrastructure, interoperability and emerging technologies can strengthen government institutions and improve service delivery to citizens.
Arabi disclosed this in a statement on the fourth Nigeria GovTech Conference and Awards, scheduled for October 13 and 14 in Abuja. He said the conference would examine how digital transformation could promote more efficient, inclusive and responsive governance while expanding access to government services.
According to him, discussions would focus on digital public infrastructure, interoperability, emerging technologies and innovation, as well as their role in strengthening institutions. He added that digital transformation could also support financial inclusion and expand Nigeria’s digital economy.
The conference, organised by BPSR in collaboration with the Office of the Technical Adviser to the President on Economic and Financial Inclusion, is themed “Advancing Digital Government: Scaling Digital Public Infrastructure for Effective Governance and Service Delivery.”
As part of the event, six state governors will receive the 2026 Nigeria GovTech Public Service Awards for contributions to digital government and technology-enabled service delivery. They are Dikko Radda of Katsina, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Peter Mbah of Enugu, Charles Soludo of Anambra and Hyacinth Alia of Benue.
Arabi said the governors were selected following an assessment of digital government performance based on service delivery, institutional readiness, digital infrastructure, transparency, open governance, innovation and partnerships. He said the conference would bring together government officials, technology executives, development partners and private-sector stakeholders to discuss practical approaches to advancing digital government in Nigeria.
