AMID a challenging economic environment, Nigeria’s airport taxi operators are concerned about meeting the December 2026 dea70dline for vehicle upgrades imposed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
FAAN mandated airport taxi operators to use car models from 2012 or newer, with a compliance deadline of December 2026. In light of economic challenges and high vehicle replacement costs, operators are appealing for a 12-month grace period until June 2027 to facilitate compliance.
Currently, fewer than 5% of operators have met the new model requirement, as they face significant financial constraints and are seeking structured borrowing options to ease compliance pressures.
