EGYTIAN NATIONAL TEAM
The Egyptian national soccer team, the Pharaohs last Sunday piped the Le Sao of Chad 5-1 in Njamena to climb top of group G.

A hat-trick from Basem Morsi and a brace from Mohamed Salah helped the Egyptians to a record 5-1 victory over Chad in match day two African Cup of Nations, Group G qualifier played at the Stade Omnisports Idriss Mahamat Ouya on Sunday.

The win takes Egypt to the top of Group G on six points after winning their opening qualifier in June, 3-0 against Tanzania.

Nigeria is placed second with four points after a goalless draw against Tanzania on Saturday, with Tanzania occupying third spot with one point and Chad at the bottom of the group having lost its two last games against Egypt and Nigeria respectively.

Morsi fired the Pharoahs ahead as early as the second minute before doubling the lead in the 25th minute. Although, Chad pulled one goal back in the 38th minute through Nadjim Haroum, the joy of the home fans for a possible come-back did not last long as Mohamed Salah restored Egypt’s two goal lead in the 40th minute, making it 3-1.

Salah completed his brace in the 56th minute to make it 4-1 while Morsi put the icing on the cake for the Pharaohs was their fifth goal in the 62nd minute, completing a memorable hat-trick away from home.
