Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE)

Trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) further appreciated Monday with the All Share Index jumping by 3.02 per cent or 870.22 points to close at 29,684.84 points compared with 2.1 per cent or 592.87 points it closed at 28,814.62 on Friday.

Market capitalization likewise increased by N299.3 billion to close at N10.21 trillion compared to N201.7 billion gained last Friday to close to close at N9.90 trillion .

All sectoral indices likewise closed positive with the exception of the NSE ASeM Index that close flat.

The NSE Banking recorded the highest gain of 5 per cent to close at N299.81 followed by the NSE Pension Index which increased 4.7 per cent to close at 897.20 points.

The Consumer Goods Index similarly gained 3.6 per cent to close at 731.27 points while the NSE Main Board Index added 3.5 per cent to close at 1,390.75 points.

The NSE 30 Index increased 3.4 per cent to close at 1,327.89 points while the NSE Premium Index, Lotus Islamic Index, Industrial Index and NSE Oil/Gas Index appreciated 2 per cent each to close at 1,633.68 points, 2,040.64 points, 2,198 points and 351.07 points respectively.

The NSE Insurance index rose one per cent to close 130.21 points.

PZ Plc. led 48 equity gainers as it appreciated by 10.22 per cent or N2.24 to close at N24.15 per share followed by Okomuoil Plc. which gained 10.20 per cent or N2 to close at N21.60 per share.

Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc. also gained 10.12 per cent or 43 kobo to close at N4.68 per share, while Nascon Allied Industries Plc added 10.07 per cent or 55 kobo to close at N6.01

Access Bank Plc rose 10.06 per cent or 47 kobo to close N5.14 per share, while Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc rose 9.95 per cent or 21 kobo to close at N2.32 per share.

On the other hand, Caverton Offshore Support Grp Plc led 9 equity losers with a decline of 4.97 per cent or 17 kobo to close at N3.25 per share followed by E-Tranzact Plc which dropped 4.80 per cent or 13 kobo to close at N2.58, while Computer Warehouse Group Plc lost 4.75 per cent or 14 kobo to close at N2.81 per share.

R T BRISCOE Plc. depreciated 3.77 per cent or 2 kobo to close at 51 kobo per share while Julius Berger Paints Plc declined 2.33 per cent or N1 to close at N42 per share.

Total transactions by investors on the NSE were 510.4 million shares worth N3.5 billion exchanged in 4,766 deals.
