Equity transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) resumed the week on a negative note as the All-Share Index depreciated by 0.61 per cent or 182.94 points to close at 29,828.95 points against 13.73 points lost on Friday to close at 30,011.89 points.

The market capitalization, which opened at N10.314 trillion dropped N62.873 billion to close at N10.252 trillion, against N5 billion lost on Friday to close at N10.314 trillion.

An analysis of the sectoral indices chart showed that the NSE Industrial Index was the day’s sole gainer with a 0.2 per cent appreciation to close at 2,122.17 points against nine remaining sectoral lagers while the NSEM ASeM Index remained flat.

Price movement on the Equity board indicated that Wema Bank led 10 gainers with a 5.26 per cent or 5 kobo gain to close at N1.00 per share, followed by Continental Reinsurance Plc which added 4.21 per cent or 4 kobo to close at 99 kobo per share, while Africa Prudential Registrars Plc increased 1.89 per cent or 5 kobo to close at N2.70 per share.

Dangote Sugar Plc appreciated 1.56 per cent or 10 kobo to close at N6.49 per share, while Berger Paints Plc grew 1.55 per cent or 16 kobo to close at N10.50 per share.

Conversely, Oando Plc led 28 equity losers with a loss of 9.64 per cent or 96 kobo to close at N9.00 per share, followed by Okomu Oil which lost 8.38 per cent or N2.56 to close at N28.00 per share, while Paints & Coatings Manufacturers Plc dropped 5.00 per cent or 6 kobo to close at N1.14 per share.

Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc lost 5.00 per cent or 23 kobo to close at N4.37 per share, while Champion Plc depreciated 5.00 per cent or 23 kobo to close at N4.37 per share.

In all, a total of 366.92 million shares valued at N5.245 billion were traded by investors in 2,976 deals against 151.18 million shares worth N1.71 billion traded by investors in 2,604 deals on Friday.
