THE Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has enacted enforcement actions following an aircraft incident involving VMO Aero Limited on 10 June 2026, where a Bombardier Challenger 601-3A landed on a road near Asaba Airport instead of the runway.
The NCAA grounded the aircraft, barred the pilots from Nigerian airspace, and halted the operator’s Permit for Non-Commercial Flight (PNCF) pending further investigation.
Capt. Chris Najomo, Director-General of NCAA, stated that a comprehensive investigation is underway, emphasizing the uniqueness of the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate damage to the aircraft’s left nose-wheel assembly, and data recorders have been recovered for analysis.
The incident highlights the importance of safety oversight in Nigeria’s aviation system, with ongoing investigations expected to influence future operational safety recommendations.
