THE Federal Government has been urged to bolster the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) through enhanced funding, increased autonomy, and infrastructure renewal, rather than opting for privatization of air navigation services.
The National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE) pointed out that NAMA’s issues arise from historical underinvestment and rising operational costs, not from inefficiency. They advocate for government reforms to improve NAMA’s capacity and financial health.
Additionally, former NAMA Managing Director Roland Iyayi criticized the current Ticket Sales Charge, recommending its replacement with an Aviation Development Fund focused on infrastructure development.
