The Port Harcourt Refining Company will operate at 90 percent capacity after the ongoing rehabilitation of the refinery, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has said.
The Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division at NNPC, Kennie Obateru, disclosed this during the Nigerian Content Seminar at the 20th Nigeria Oil and Gas Conference in Abuja, NOG, 2021.
Obateru spoke during the panel session on how a conducive business environment can be created for Nigeria Content to thrive. He also annouced that contracts for the revamping of the Warri and Kaduna refineries will be signed by the end of July 2021.
“The Port Harcourt refinery is beign revamped and when completed, the refinery will operate at 90percent capacity of 210,000 barrels per day.
“Contracts will be signed for Warri and Kaduna refinery by ending of July and work will commence soon.
“The future of the oil and gas industry for Nigeria ia very bright and will attract the necessary investments in the sector, even as the world is moving from hydrocarbon and fossil fuels to renewable energy.
“We all know that gas is still going to be around for long time and Nigeria is a a gas province dotted with oil.”
