The investiture of the African Export-Import Bank’s (Afreximbank’s) new President and the inauguration of the Bank’s headquarters in Cairo have been slated for 20 and 21 Sept. 2015.

The Bank said in a statement on Friday in Cairo that the two ceremonies would be attended by former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, high ranking African government officials, heads of international organizations, members of the diplomatic community, leaders of international financial institutions and the business community.

It said the Egyptian Prime Minister, Ibrahim Mahlab is expected to perform the inauguration of the headquarters building on Sept. 20.

The statement said the inauguration would be followed on Sept. 21 by the investiture of Dr. Benedict Oramah, as the new President of the Bank, to be performed by Alexander Chikwanda, Minister of Finance of Zambia and Chairman of the General Meeting of Shareholders of the Bank.

Oramah would take over from Jean-Louis Ekra, who would be stepping down after completing two five-year terms as President.

The foundation stone of the nine-floor Afreximbank headquarters building was laid on 18 Dec. 2003 and construction completed in 2010.

Afreximbank began the use of the building on 10 Nov. 2010 but decided to put off the formal inauguration until a convenient date.
