Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE)

Trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchnage (NSE) closed Monday on a positive note as the All Share Index appreciated 1.3 per cent to close at 30,219.01 points compared to a gain of 0.45 per cent recorded last Friday to close at 29,834.21 basis points.

Similarly, Market Capitalization gained N132.245 billion to close at N10.385 trillion, in contrast to N46.099 billion gained last Friday to close at N10.253 trillion.

The NSE Premium Index dominated transactions as it topped seven sectoral gainers with a 3.7 per cent increase to close at 1,637.18 points. On the other hand three sectoral losers were recorded namely the NSE Pension, Consumer goods and Insurance Indexes, which lost 0.2 per cent, 0.2 per cent and 0.1 per cent respectively, while the NSE ASEM Index remained flat.

Dangote Cement Plc, led 18 equity gainers with a N7.94 or 4.93 per cent gain to close at N168.95 per share, followed by Berger Paints Plc which added 51 kobo or 4.92 per cent to close at N10.87 per share, while Honeywell Flour Plc added 12 kobo or 4.71 per cent to close at N2.67 per share.

Cutix Plc gained 7 kobo or 4.40 per cent to close at N1.66 per share, while Mobil Plc increased N6.00 or 4.05 per cent to close at N154 per share.

On the other hand, Trans-nationwide Express Plc led 20 equity losers as it decreased 8 kobo or 7.08 per cent to close at N1.05 per share followed by Nascon Allied Plc which depreciated 53 kobo or 6.86 per cent to close at N7.20 per share, while RT Briscoe Plc lost 3 kobo or 5.00 per cent to close at 57 kobo per share.

Wema Bank Plc declined 5 kobo or 5.00 per cent to close at 95 kobo per share, while Evans Medical Plc dropped 3 kobo or 4.92 per cent to close at 58 kobo per share.

Altogether, a total of 104.457 million shares worth N1.935 billion were exchanged in 2,929 deals compared to 357.364 million shares worth N2.336 billion exchanged in 2,510 deals last Friday.
