Piqued by the rampant destruction of lives and properties across the Northern region, the Arewa Youths Consultative Councils (ACYCC) has unveiled a new sustainable security project for the entire 19 Northern states to end insecurity within the next 10 years.

The new effort, tagged “Project SUSPRONS 2021- 2031,” is set to target 2,750,000 youths across the region in a bid to rejuvenate their psyche and urge them to desist from being used as tools for thuggery, banditry and other crimes that help fuel destruction of the Northern region.

The National President of the Council, Zayad Ayuba Alhaji, said the group is a NonGovernmental Organisation that strives to bring back the already lost values of Northern Nigeria.

At the group’s meeting on Saturday in Kano, where it discussed basic fundamental strategies that will free the region from the bondage of insecurity, Zayad said the group also plans to discourage the recruitment of youths into various criminal gangs and Jihadist groups through awareness and capacity development Initiative.

“The overall projects is targeting two million, seven hundred and fifty thousand youths across the 19 states of the North plus Abuja,” he said adding: “We are here to talk senses to ourselves bring about means that will be aimed at proffering solutions to the insecurity problems that bedevilled Northern Nigeria.

“This project, called SUSPRONS will engage youths in the whole 19 Northern states across the federation to work assiduously to bring these vices to an end before 2013.”

Alhaji Ayuba further disclosed that it will increase the capacity of women to actively play their roles as mothers and to empower them in encountering violent extremism. He said the council will engage and sensitise the youths who are critical stakeholders to bring insurgency to an end in the 19 northern states.
