The The Lagos State Government Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared a statewide ban on commercial motorcycle operators popularly known as Okada. He made this known today while addressing Area Commanders and DPOs across the state. With him was the Commissioner of Nigeria Police Force Lagos.
The total ban on Okada on Lagos roads will take effect from the 1st of June 2022.
The ban is in phases beginning with the whole of IKEJA, SURULERE, ETI OSA, LAGOS MAINLAND, LAGOS ISLAND and APAPA Local Government Areas.
Okada operators in other Local Govt Areas should begin to seek alternatives as the enforcement of the ban will be extended to them in due course.
