The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has condemned the invasion of the party’s secretariat and purported take-over of national chairmanship position by Alhaji Ahmed Gulak.
The Governors rising from a brief meeting in Abuja on Wednesday night condemned the action taken by the former Political Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and demanded the reinstatement of the party’s national working committee.
The statements read in parts: “The Forum hereby calls on the National Secretary of the party to assume leadership of the party as Acting Chairman. The relevant organs of the party will meet soon to elect an Acting Chairman from the North East for the party”.
The PDP Governors Forum also argued that it is mindful of the judgment of the High Court directing the party to elect a member from the North-East as Chairman but stress the need to explore internal mechanism to address the impasse.
“The Forum believes that the internal mechanism of the party can be utilized to provide a more appropriate resolution.
