Embattled Senate President, Bukola Saraki has appeared at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to continue his defence against alleged false declaration of assets with about 50 senators.
The Senate President arrived the CCT, accompanied by a retinue of senators at about 10.00am. The pro-Saraki Senators were led by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, with the likes of Senators Dino Melaye, Abdullahi Adamu, Aliyu Wamakko, Sam Egwu, Stella Oduah and Samuel Anyanwu were on hand to show support to their embattled leader.
Saraki, who was arraigned on September 18 by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) over allegations of corruption and false assets declaration of assets was later granted bail on self recognition. The former Kwara Governor later pleaded ‘not guilty’ to a 13-count charge leveled against him by the CCB on September 22.
Meanwhile, there was commotion at the CCT earlier as police stopped journalists from gaining access into the court room, as cameras were totally barred from the room.
