Troops of the Nigerian Air Force component of the Operation Thunder Strike have raided bandits’ hideouts in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killed at least 24 bandits.

The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, stated this in a statement on Thursday. He said the troops would continue to monitor the troubled area through vigorous security patrols.

Aruwan said the bandits were killed during an aerial mission carried out by the troops over Ungwan Nacibi. He added that aircraft conducted airstrikes at the identified bandits’ location, which were successful, saying that the strikes were well on target as several bandits were killed.

The commissioner said, “Dozens of bandits (were) neutralised in an aerial mission over Birnin Gwari LGA. More than two dozen bandits were reportedly neutralised on Wednesday in an aerial mission over Ungwan Nacibi in the Birnin Gwari LGA. This was reported by the air component of the Operation Thunder Strike.

“According to the operational feedback, the aircraft conducted interdictions at the identified bandits’ location, which were successful. The strikes were well on target as several bandits were confirmed neutralised by the airstrikes.”
