A truck belonging to Nigeria Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO) had an accident in the early hours of Tuesday, August 4, 2015 along Ikorodo Road, resulting in traffic snarl. The truck, which had its head pulled off, skidded off its lane and rammed into a car, resulting in a multiple accident. The bashed car was immediately towed away. Though no death was recorded, the truck driver and the conductor sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
Rescue team and security agencies comprising the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC); Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA); Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA) and the Marine Navy attached to it; Lagos State Fire Services, NIPCO fire service; as well as policemen were on ground to ensure safety and prevent fire outbreak. The truck was towed away to allow traffic flow, while street urchins stormed the scene of the accident to scoop diesel flowing along the BRT lane after NIPCO fire service wet the BRT lane with chemical.
