President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to swear in Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) today following the resignation of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad on health grounds.
Justice Ariwoola, the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court after the exit of Mohammed will be sworn-in today by 2pm, according to inside sources.
The jurist was born on 22 August 1958, Justice Ariwoola was formerly a Justice of the Court of Appeal and was elevated to the Supreme Court bench.
Justice Ariwoola was elevated to the Supreme Court eleven years ago in November 2011.
Given his age of 63, the incoming CJN would still have a long service of 7 years in the position before retirement at 70.
