Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has intensified efforts to modernise agriculture by engaging Chinese partners on agricultural mechanisation during a strategic technology and industrial mission to the People’s Republic of China.
The governor said the visit was aimed at strengthening existing partnerships and exploring practical technologies that would enhance agricultural productivity, improve food security and create employment opportunities across the state.
Radda said agriculture remains one of the key sectors under his administration’s Building Your Future agenda, adding that technology would play a critical role in transforming farming and improving rural livelihoods.
He disclosed that the state government, in collaboration with Chinese partners, is establishing the Katsina Agricultural Mechanisation Centre to improve farmers’ access to modern farm machinery and equipment.
According to him, the centre is already making an impact by increasing access to mechanised farming tools, enhancing productivity and supporting the state’s drive towards food sufficiency.
Beyond agriculture, Radda said the delegation engaged leading Chinese technology and manufacturing firms to explore innovations that could support governance, education, security, manufacturing and the digital economy.
He added that discussions with the Chinese companies also focused on artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, cloud computing, cybersecurity and smart governance, stressing that these technologies would complement agricultural development through improved service delivery and planning.
“This mission is about strengthening partnerships and identifying practical solutions that will transform agriculture, improve food production and support sustainable economic growth in Katsina State,” Radda said.
