Ahead of activities marking Nigeria’s diamond jubilee anniversary, the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja, has been shut down.
A guard of honour and anniversary parade are scheduled for the Eagles Square which is located in the vicinity of the Secretariat.
According to a circular by the Head of the Civil Service of the federation, Mrs Folashade Yemi-Esan, and addressed to all permanent secretaries and chief executives of offices, Departments and Agencies operating from phases 1 to 3 of the Secretariat Complexes, the temporary shut-down of the Secretariat is for security purposes:
“For security purposes, workers are therefore expected to vacate the complexes on or before 2pm today, Wednesday September 30, 2020”.
Already, the Federal Government had declared October 1 a public holiday for the 60th independence anniversary celebrations of Nigeria.
