Egypt’s Minister of Trade, Ahmed Samir, expressed interest in achieving comprehensive development following the reduction of customs tariffs to boost intra-African trade during the Annual African Trade Summit, IATF2023.
Samir emphasized that the IATF2023 comes in light of very difficult international and regional challenges since the coronavirus pandemic, which continues to cast its shadow on the global economy in general and African countries in particular, as well as in light of difficult regional circumstances in light of the events that the region is currently witnessing.
Samir highlighted the exhibition session’s discussion aligns with the end of the first ten-year continental development plan, aimed at strengthening the continent’s global economic position.

He added that the government is promoting economic integration, enhancing the Continental Free Trade Area implementation, and promoting the well-being of African people in neighbouring African countries.
What is more, the Egyptian government is eager to enhance cooperation with neighbouring African countries to achieve comprehensive development for all African nations.
Samir emphasized Egypt’s desire to promote comprehensive economic cooperation among African nations, and commitment to actively participating in all continent-wide activities to enhance economic cooperation among its countries.
Samir aims to leverage intra-African trade exhibition activities to secure agreements and contracts that enhance trade and industry between African countries.
