Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency of Abia state in the House of Representatives has narrated how the All Progressive Congress (APC) lost the state governorship election because the party’s candidate, Dr. Uche Ogah, entered a secret pact with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Onyejeocha, who is the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives disclosed that the pact was for Ogah to support the candidate of the PDP, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu in the election while the PDP will support him in the 2023 governorship election.

Onyejeocha stated that Ogah, who is the Minister of State for Mines and Steel, did not show any form of seriousness in his campaigns from the period he won the APC ticket to the election.

Speaking at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Obingwa LGA, Onyejeocha who is the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, explained that before the intervention of Chief Ikechi Emenike, the APC in the state was sold to PDP where some stakeholders of the party were being sponsored by the PDP government.

In her words; “There was a pact in 2019 where someone was asked to hold the APC and be compensated in 2023. Uche Ogah failed to implement all arrangements we made for the party’s victory. He never showed up in all the meetings convened to discuss how the party could win the governorship election. The APC that was operating in Abia was an APC that was sold to PDP. People in another party were putting structures in APC. The other group has vowed that the old order must continue.”

The Deputy Chief Whip, however, assured that the APC in the state has been repositioned for the 2023 election and urged Abia people to join the party rescue the state from what she described as PDP’s administration.

“I enjoin the progressives in Abia state to come to help us rescue Abia. We are not doing it for Chief Ikechi Emenike. I joined people to plead with Chief Ikechi Emenike to forgive everybody and use his contacts to help rescue Abia. Let’s unite and go back to our wards to deliver the party.”

Efforts to get Ogah’s reaction to the allegation was not successful as his mobile number indicated it was not unavailable.
