The Federal inland Revenue Service (FIRS) will soon have a new name. It will be known as the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS).
The proposed revision to the Finance Act that is currently before the National Assembly will determine whether the name change takes place.
The chief executive would be addressed as “Commissioner-General” rather than “Chairman,” according to Finance, Budget, and National Planning Minister Zainab Ahmed, when she appeared before the Senate Committee on Finance.
Other provisions include reorganising the FIRS Board to separate the executive management.
