Abuja – the Federal Capital City appears calm today, even as reports from parts of the country indicate that all may not be well in Lagos and other cities in Nigeria.

Normalcy appears to have returned to Abuja after two straight weeks of unrelenting demonstration by EndSARS protesters leading to interminable traffic holdup, destruction and deaths. While many business houses are open and functioning as usual, the roads are not as busy as they used to be.
Some say the chilling story of the Lekki Toll-Gate Massacre may have been responsible for keeping the protesters away and the noticeably reduced number of cars on the roads.

While ruling out the possibility that the protesters may have developed cold feet and chickened out from their mission, some people interpret the situation to mean that they may be restrategizing to avoid a repeat of the Lagos incident.

Recall that a car mart had gone up in flames on Monday in the Apo Area of Abuja with some lives reportedly lost, while cases of road blockage have been commonplace in the past two weeks.

A drive through the streets revealed the presence of fully armed soldiers stationed around some public buildings, while police vans roamed the city.
Popular spots like the Eagle Square and the Unity Fountain, are today without any form of activity.
