A combined team of vigilantes, hunters and policemen on Thursday arrested two suspected kidnappers in Ibillo, in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.
The two suspects were said to have kidnapped two youths who were running an errand for their boss along the Igarra-Ibillo Road.
It was learnt that the security team mobilised and stormed the hideout of the kidnappers around Ibillo, where they were arrested. A member of the team, who did not want to be identified, confirmed the incident.
He said, “Two young men who work for a businessman were sent on an errand by their master. They were driving from Igarra to Ibillo when the kidnappers, who were Fulani, attacked them with cutlasses and took them into the forest. Immediately we got the information, we contacted the police. The hunters from the area also joined the search party. We stormed their hideout and arrested two of them; we found huge cash and other items with them.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Kokumo, said his men were working round the clock to rid the state of criminal elements, especially kidnappers.
