The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, has said the Brass Fertilizer project and the Atlantic Modular Refinery in Brass Island of Bayelsa State would begin soon, in 2021.

The fertilizer project, a federal government industry, will create 15,000 direct jobs and additional 5000 jobs later.

At a grand reception organized by the Okpoama kingdom in his honour last weekend, Sylva said much work had been done in constructing the fuel depot.

Sylva, a former governor of Bayelsa State, also commended President Mohammedu Buhari for his vision and foresight in bringing development to the Niger Delta region, urging the youths to be peaceful and law abiding to attract more government presence.

He said: “We have finished all touches at the Brass Fertilizer Project, we are going to take the air fighting at the end of this year, which is already with us, that is going to be a huge project on the island creating a lot of opportunities.

“We have finished touches on the Atlantic Modular Refinery, we are also ready for the fuel depot, that is why we want our youths to be law abiding and peaceful for this government presence to thrive, while maximizing the opportunities.”

Chairman of the Okpoama Kingdom Council of Chiefs, Chief Inikio Sam-Sele Dede, described Okpoama Kingdom as peace loving, hard working people, unique in their ways, resilient and always determined to succeed in the things they do.
