German Bundesliga giant, Schalke 04 have agreed to terminate the contract of its controversial attacking midfielder, Kevin-Prince Boateng.
Boateng, who moved to Schalke from AC Milan in August 2013, is expected to rejoin the struggling Serie A club whom has was already training and playing friendlies with for over two months.
A statement posted on Schalke’s official website confirmed the development: “FC Schalke 04 and Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng have decided to mutually terminate his contract at the club. The terms of the agreement will remain undisclosed”, the club said.
The Ghana international was suspended by Schalke following the club’s 2-0 defeat at Cologne last May, which the club management blamed on “lack of mutual trust” and informing Boateng after that he should search for a new club.
Boateng whose elder brother, Jerome plays for Bayern Munich and Germany, made 60 competitive appearances for Shalke, 46 in the Bundesliga, twelve in European competitions and two in the DFB Cup, in which he scored seven goals.
The 28-year-old will become available to play for AC Milan as from January 1, 2016 when the next transfer window officially opens.
