A woman and three children have been rescued unhurt from a Boko Haram enclave by troops of the 151 Task Force Battalion. The military men were said to be on a clearing patrol in Miyanti village, in the Bama Local Government Area on Monday when the rescue occurred.
According to a release by Operation Fireball, five Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were also killed in Buni Gari, in the Gujba LGA of Yobe State when they attempted to infiltrate the village. The acting Director, Defense Media Operation, Brig. Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, in the release, said many of the insurgents escaped with injuries, while a large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
“One fabricated Armoured Personnel Carrier, one gun truck, one NSVT anti-aircraft gun, one QJC anti-aircraft gun, one rocket-propelled grenade tube, one PKT gun, one general purpose machine gun, one QJC extra barrel, six AK-47 rifles, 311 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, were recovered,” he added.
Onyeuko also revealed that two bicycles, one AK-47 rifle and two Boko Haram flags were captured by the military in the North-East between Saturday and Sunday, as a female suicide bomber was killed shortly before she detonated her vest.
