The United Kingdom is set to reduce travel restrictions and scrap the infamous red list which came back into use after the outbreak of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus. This was according to reports that the Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, had been able to convince his colleagues that the restrictions should be replaced with testing for the fully vaccinated.
This reconsideration follows outrage from countries placed on the red list, many of which were African countries, since the British government instituted the fresh restrictions.
British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, had last week promised to reexamine the UK’s policy following claims that it was unfair and ineffective. The proposal to reduce the travel restrictions is expected to be approved this week, according to the report.
