Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles has been drawn in the Group C alongside Tunisia, Niger and Guinea for the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The draw for the 2016 CHAN finals conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Kigali, Rwanda on Sunday also pitched tournament hosts, Rwanda in Group A alongside Gabon, Morocco and Cote d’Ivoire.
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), winner of the CHAN’s maiden edition, was drawn in Group B with 2011 losing finalists Angola, Cameroon and Ethiopia. Group D, however, comprises Zimbabwe, Mali, Uganda and Zambia.
Group A matches will take place at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, while Group B teams will be based in Butare. Group C will play at the Nyamirambo Stadium, also in Kigali with Gisenyi hosting Group D games.
The initial phase separates the 16 countries into four groups. The finals will take place from January 16 to February 7, 2016 in Rwanda.
The tournament is designed for locally based African footballers playing in their domestic leagues.
