Super Eagles chief coach, Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh says call-up to the senior male national team is open to every Nigerian footballer. But, only those playing regular team football in top clubs would get invitation for national team assignments.
Oliseh made the declaration in his post-match speech after guiding the Super Eagles to a 2-0 victory against the Les Sao of Benin Republic in an international friendly match on Tuesday.
Asked if there’s still place for the likes of John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses in his team, Oliseh replied: “Yes there is room for everybody, all I am just asking them is we need them to have playing time. Like you see today everybody who played for Nigeria played for their respective clubs and at the same time they are showing the hunger. And the ones who played today have started picking up points, so obviously those coming will have to fight to get into the team but that’s what we want for Nigeria.”
Mikel has had only 6 minutes of game time so far this season from a possible 540 minutes while Moses has endured spell on the sidelines due to injury and lack of selection before being loaned to West Ham United.
