Barely three days after playing out a goalless draw against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in Afcon 2017 qualifiers; Nigeria’s Super Eagles claimed a 2-0 victory against Les Mena of Niger in an international friendly match.
The game played at the Adokie Amasiemeka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, saw stand-in-captain, Ahmed Musa and Moses Daddy Simon netting in each half to hand Sunday Oliseh his first victory as Super Eagles coach.
Super Eagles head coach, Oliseh, made six changes to the side that played against Tanzania by including Godfrey Oboabona, Chima Akas, Rabiu Ibrahim, Usman Mohammed, Sylvester Igbonu and Anthony Ujah.
The CSKA of Moscow attacker, gave Nigeria the lead in the 12th minute through a free-kick that the Nigerien goalkeeper Daouda Kassaly should have kept if he had applied a strong punch.
Although, the Super Eagles continued to torment its opponents, creating numerous scoring chances, it was unable to increase the tally until five minutes from end of the match when substitute Moses Simon, scored the second goal after being given the ball in front of the box.
The AAK Gent attacking winger, who took the place of Musa, delivered a sublime finish, shooting into the roof of the net to seal the victory.
