Suspended UEFA President, Michel Platini has been dropped from the list of candidates contesting the FIFA presidential election scheduled to hold on February 26, 2016.
Also affected by the final integrity checks on the candidates is Liberia’s FA Chairman, Musa Bility FIFA, leaving only five candidates as potential successor to Sepp Blatter.
Those approved by the world’s football governing body to vie for the post are Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, Jerome Champagne, Gianni Infantino, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa and Tokyo Sexwale.
FIFA said it would not comment further on the reasons for Bility’s exclusion, which the 48-year-old can challenge at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
However, there are strong indications that Platini could be added into the race if he manages to upturn his ban before the February’s election.
