Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC Ltd plans to conduct test runs at its Port Harcourt refinery this month, marking a significant step towards resuming operations five years after its closure.
NNPC spokesperson Femi Soneye confirmed that “testing will be completed this month to ensure the refinery’s efficient operation.”
The refinery, under upgrade, is expected to process 60,000 barrels daily and reach full capacity of 210,000 barrels later this year.
Nigeria’s government is reviving state-owned refineries like Port Harcourt to reduce its reliance on imported refined products.
