Napolistriker, Victor Osimhen, is billed to be re-evaluated by doctors in the next 15 days after being discharged from the Ruesch Clinic on Thursday after a successful cheekbone surgery.
The Nigeria international suffered facial fractures after a clash of heads with Inter defender Milan Skriniar in Napoli’s 3-2 loss to the champions on Sunday – their first loss of the season.
The doctor who operated on the 22-year-old disclosed that the player required ‘‘six plaques and 18 screws’’ to repair the ‘‘devastating’’ damage.
The Serie A table-toppers on their website on Thursday confirmed that the player was discharged from the hospital early Thursday morning and will be closely monitored in his home before his next checkup appointment.
“Victor Osimhen was discharged from the Ruesch Clinic this morning and returned home,” the club confirmed in a statement.
“He will have a rest period of at least 10 to 15 days and then he will be re-evaluated.”
Osimhen has been ruled out for 90 days, thus ruling him out of the Africa Cup of Nations, but Napoli confirmed he has ‘‘returned home.’’
Meanwhile, Skriniar has wished the Nigeria international a quick recovery from his injury, stating that he’ll love to see him on the pitch soon.
“Hi Victor, Good luck, I hope to see you on the pitch soon. Forza, champ.”
Osimhen before his injury was Napoli’s top scorer in all competitions with nine goals from 14 games in the 2021/22 season.
