Nigeria won the Best Stand Award in the Country Pavilion category at the seven-day Intra-trade African Trade Fair (IATF2023) in Cairo, Egypt.
The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the African Union, and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, who organized the event, stated during a brief ceremony that Nigeria’s Pavilion stood out with a unique and creative design, showcasing the nation’s rich cultural and economic heritage with brilliance.
There were six more awards given out at the event to other exhibitors. Algeria clinched the Most Innovative Stand Award for their use of creative space, while Manuel Antonio Mota, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mota-Engil Africa, based in Uganda, received the prestigious Best Individual Award.
The Best Stand Award in the CANEX category was won by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), while Chevron, a leading U.S. oil firm, received the Best Stand Award in the Auto category.
The other organizations honoured by the organizers of IATF2023 for outstanding displays at the fair are ARISE IIP, a leading sponsor in the conference, which claimed the top honour of Best Stand for Doing Business, and Africa Design, which clinched the Best AU Youth Stand Award. According to the organizers, ARISE IIP was adjudged the best for doing business because its stand exemplified innovation, efficiency, and a dedication to facilitating impactful business engagements. Similarly, Africa Design received the prestigious Best AU Youth Stand Award for celebrating innovation. The organizers noted that Africa Design’s creativity and vision are shaping the future of African business.
The hugely successful IATF2023 recorded more than 1,750 exhibitors from 75 countries across Africa and worldwide, who showcased different kinds of products and services. In addition, there were about 28,000 conference delegates and trade visitors, and trade and business transactions worth over $43 billion were made at the fair.
