The Nasarawa Police Command says it has arrested eight suspected armed robbers led by one Shamsu Uman who allegedly attacked a house at Angwan Jarmi area in the Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this while speaking with our correspondent on Sunday in Lafia.
He explained that the suspected armed robbers, who launched an attack on the house, carted away household items and a huge amount of money.
“Upon receipt of the information, Police personnel attached to Angwan Lambu Division in Keffi LGA, launched a manhunt of the criminal elements and were able to arrest about eight of the suspected armed robbers.
“Consequently, one HP laptop computer, one 32 inch Startimes Television, four sophisticated handsets of different brands, jewellery, one MP3 player, clippers and a cash sum of N223,950 were recovered from the suspects as exhibits”, the Police spokesman said.
ASP Nansel also disclosed that officers of the Police Command have arrested three suspects who allegedly kidnapped the wife of one Ibrahim Sarkinnana at Ayongo village in the Awe Local Government Area of the state.
“As soon as we got the information about the kidnap of the woman, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi directed some officers of the command to go after the suspected kidnappers and they were able to arrest the suspects at their hideout.
“The suspects were led by one Mohammed Hula, a 20-year-old man who had been on the wanted list of the Police for sometime now”, he added.
While warning all criminal elements to flee Nasarawa State without further delay, ASP Nansel said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi has directed that the cases should be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia before charging the suspects to court.
