The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday presented 51 Sports Utility Vehicles and eight houses to the newly appointed judges of the state high courts in Lagos.
This is coming on the heels of similar presentation the governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu made in October, 2019, when he presented 50 cars to the state magistrates.
This new-found love of presenting serving judges with brand new SUVs had begun with the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who gave his state judges 51 brand new Range Rover Autobiography SUVs, along with sprawling mansions. This was in spite of the bad condition of the state courtrooms and the difficult filing system that has made the administration of justice in Rivers State a herculean task.
Presenting the vehicles and houses to the judges, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the gesture was aimed at supporting the state judiciary and enable it to perform its statutory functions more efficiently. The governor also promised to always support the judiciary in order to build a more robust institution.
