Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) giant, Kano Pillars has released 10 players from its team squad to pave way for recruitment of 12 new stars.
Sai Masu Gida took the bold step to rejig the squad in a renewed bid to reclaim the league titles as well as compete at the highest level following a miserable outing in 2014/15 season.
Pillars finished last season in eight position with 55 points from 38 matches a position way below its standards after ruling Nigeria for three consecutive seasons.
The club’s Media Officer, Idris Malikawa says this season will be prosecuted differently. According to him, the team has resumed for the new league season and the head coach, Mohammed Babaganaru has been overseeing the club’s proceedings after two days of grueling training sessions.
“It won’t be business as usual at all and the coaches have told them that they must shape up or get kicked out of the club.
“The position of the club in the campaign last season was unacceptable and we have started addressing the issue with the removal of players that have been deemed surplus to requirements and we are going to get new better ones that will help us realize our dreams,” he added.
