Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, has declared his support for Senator Samuel Anyanwu on his nomination as a consensus candidate of the South-East for the position of National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the National Convention scheduled for October 30 and 31, 2021.

This is contrary to some reports in the media claiming Ihedioha is aversed to the nomination of Anyanwu.

In a statement issued to the pressmen through his media aide, Chibuike Onyeukwu, in Owerri on Monday, Ihedioha described the online reports as misleading while urging the people to disregard them entirely.

Hon Ihedioha said that he had already held a meeting with Senator Anyanwu last Friday shortly after Thursday’s meeting of critical stakeholders of the PDP South-East held in Enugu.

He extended his hands of fellowship and assured Senator Anyanwu of his support, that of Imo PDP and indeed his friends and associates across the country to his emergence as National Secretary at the convention.

He appealed for calm, adding that nobody should play politics with it as it is not an issue in the contest.

He said: “Senator Anyanwu is neither the problem of Imo PDP nor that of our state. We know our problem.”

Hon Ihedioha insisted that Imo PDP remained a united family, driven by a common purpose, adding that any attempt by fifth columnists to cause disaffection, especially among its leaders, would not succeed.
